Taylor Square to host “temporary art thing”

Walking through Taylor Square today at lunchtime, several council workers were hard at it laying some bitumen next to the old loos on the northern side of Oxford Street.

I asked one of the guys what it was they were working on. He told me it was for a “temporary art thing”.

Intriguing. Watch this space.

  1. It’s the first in a new public art program from the council… This one’s by COFA lecturer Louisa Dawson – Bourke St rolled out, and a reference to the Taylor Square intersection before it was pedestrianed out.

    Over the next 18 months, a series of artworks will be installed around the public toilet at Taylor Square – with public voting by SMS. It’s inspired by London’s Fourth Plinth Project in Trafalgar Square, where the public is consulted on which artworks will be occupy the vacant fourth plinth. Here‘s an artist’s impression.
