Had dinner tonight at the newly opened bamboo dumpling bar - the worst meal ive ever had!! do not go there, stale frozen dumplings and rude service to top it off.......

On the good front, the Italian bakery looks set to open, cant wait. Since the original owner of Llankelly Espresso sold up Ive had to get my coffee on Victoria st - looking forward to trying the bakeries coffee as the rest are really sub standard.

There is a new cafe called Room 10 down the far end of Llankelly Place next to the gallery (opposite end to Mad Pizza). It's been open for just over a week and I have to say it is most definitely my favourite place in the neighbourhood! Really cool fit-out, perfect coffee and great food and run by two really nice guys. If the queue down the lane this morning is anything to go by I am not the only local that is loving this new hang-out! Check it out.

A new cafe opened this morning next to the art gallery at the Orwell St end. I think it's called Room 10. Looks cool, and the coffee is good. The lane might be getting a bit crowded with cafes though.

I think the Dumpling place is re-opening soon. They appear to be doing some work there. And 3 Beans is not far away.

The coffee at Ithaka is very good. And they are really friendly. Love the bouyatses! (I think that's its called)

I think the whole Llankelly Place is getting better. Give it another month and it will be buzzing.

Not sure what has happened to the dumpling bar. Was closed for renovations reopening in Jul. Now end Aug and nothing has changed.

I actually quite like ithaka cofee, although only get to it on weekends.

Agree mad pizza appears busy, the new thai restaurant (why they decided pp needed another one, and a more upmarket one at that) seems to be struggling despit a funki'ish design.

Bakery does not appear to have started doing work.

Also a funky new gallery down the other end, and maybe a shop moving into the old drycleaners.

That said with the remaining stores in llankelly and the former elk subdivision, still a lot of empty real estate.

Reminds me of Post development further down Macleay where at least 3 of the retail stores have remained vacant since it opened, and the yoghurt place recently closed down (it was a poor cousin to mad cow in darlo in any event)

All change on llankelly place - sandwich shop is gone to be replaced by 3 beans cafe. New greek coffee shop called ithika now open, coffee ok but not great. LL wine and dine have closed their coffee shop down. About the only places that look to be doing well are Llankelly espresso and mad pizza - I never see anyone at any of the other places???????

took a stroll down llankelly place yesterday for the first time in years - wow!! what a transformation, great to see all the new shops up and running. popped into the new dumpling bar, babmboo for a light lunch which was tasty and well priced, then onto llankelly espresso for coffee at bamboos recommendation and was treated to a fabulous coffee and cake. Finished my afternoon off with a drink at the new LL wine bar after Jason from the Espresso bar recommended I go there. I will be back to all 3 and will be telling as many people as possible too. Keep it up guys!

The Newest addition to Llankelly place
You don't have to be a backpacker to know that the laneways of Kings Cross contain some dining discoveries you could classify as "cheap hidden treasures". Bamboo Dumpling Bar, a short stroll down Llankelly Place, is one of these local institutions that's frequented by those in the know and those lucky enough to stumble past it.

The best bits of Chinese and Vietnamese cuisine are the focus here, encompassing the namesake dumplings, as well as rice paper rolls, spring rolls, skewers, pho, and house specials like Peking duck pancakes and chicken sticky rice wrapped in a pandang leaf. It's just the kind of light food you could have for lunch, an afternoon snack, or an evening pig-out.
