I am sure you know (not sure if it was mentioned on Darlo Nights) that the council did away with our previously perfectly good bins which fitted into the little bin storage compartment under our house and with the old bins went the twice a week pick up. The council has given us larger bins which do not fit in the said compartment and have cut back to a once weekly pick up. They have now threatened (via letter) to come and speak to us personally about the bins being constantly in front of the house. I can hardly wait. In order to relocate the bin, I would have to either hoist it 3 meters up onto our front balcony (no external access) or I would have to wheel it through my house to the courtyard out the back which I am not about to do. Alternatively I could ask the neighbour in unit 2 upstairs to use the rear entrance (unit 2 exclusive use so we don't have keys) and remove a number of his nice tropical plants in order to make space for butt-ugly bins in a manicured courtyard 3x3 meters large acting as an outdoor dining space, so wherever you (or rather he) put the bins, a diner would seat no further away than 1,5 meters from a bin. This is a completely ridiculous result of a one size fits one policy by the council. Speaking of one size fits all, they offer an alternative small bin which is microscopic and which we would fill within 2 days flat with nappies and other refuse generated by a family of 4 downstairs and household of 2 upstairs. I can't wait to talk to the council in person when they turn up! Has anyone else written to you about this issue?
