And your time starts… Now
The parking situation in our inner city locale is about to get worse.
Spotted yesterday on Surrey Street, Darlinghurst, were some brand new parking ticket dispensers, still under wraps.

Sure residents can continue to park without charge or time limits, but it’s all too bad for your friends/family/tradespeople/others. I wonder what the hourly rate will be?
I hope this doesn’t spread throughout the neighbourhood.
Take it home and see if it works: Toilet
When you’ve got to go, you’ve got to go.
We spotted this loo a couple of weeks ago, on Craigend Street, at the corner of Surrey Street.

You could take it home and see if it works, or you could just find out on the spot if the urge was that great.
Filmed stealing
Walking down Surrey Street, Darlinghurst, this week, we were confronted with this threatening sign.

It doesn’t seem like a neighbourhood for empty threats – the owners have either gone to the police with the film or they haven’t.
It’s hard to imagine someone who’s prepared to uproot a nascent hedge (is it really a hedge at that height?) in a high traffic area like Surrey Street worrying over a handwritten sign.
Chalk alphabet – updated
The mystery continues. More chalk on the walls in Darlinghurst.

These were picked up by Allie Townsend. They’re hard to read because of the light, but both are on Craigend Street, the photo on the left is on the corner of Surrey Street.
So to recap, we now have:
A is for “azimuth”
C is for “cephlapod”
D is for “diatribe”
E is for “entropy”
F is for “fiasco”
G is for “gyroscope”
K is for “kibosh”
M is for “modulate”
N is for “nebulous”
T is for “thought bubble”
Y is for “yesterday”
Z is for “zipper”
Anagram, riddle, random inspiration?
A laundry long since forgotten
On the corner of Victoria and Surrey Streets, Darlinghurst, sits a one-time laundrette.

Months ago, we noticed a development application plastered on the wall outside with plans for a new pharmacy.
The DA was approved, according to the City of Sydney Council’s records, on 22 January this year.

Inside it is still the shell of a laundry.

Outside it is a partly boarded up wall of graffiti, chicken wire, stickers and posters for upcoming gigs.

With the cost of the development estimated at $65,000, is the continuing state of disarray a sign of the GFC?
