“I work, colour too!!!”

It would have been a prime find once upon a time. But, you know, people have these huge TVs now, and by the way everything’s on the internet. It’s gone now, probably for an art project.

It started life as a tweet. But @poisontofu thought it was a Take It Home And See If It Works, and we couldn’t help but agree.

Too bad the tip of the belt had been torn away – we noticed it a little further up the street.

An old blue mac desktop, a few shelves, files and a mirror ball hidden away at the end – someone’s moving up to bigger and better things, though maybe less dancing.

The mirror ball wasn’t there long. We took the photo and a few hours later it was gone.

In these environmentally aware times, it’s no surprise to see the pink party fridge cast off in the street. But don’t they know the state government offers a $35 buyback for old fridges?

We spotted this loo a couple of weeks ago, on Craigend Street, at the corner of Surrey Street.

You could take it home and see if it works, or you could just find out on the spot if the urge was that great.

That stylish kicker was on Macleay Street, outside the Potts Point Fratelli Fresh. But it’s by no means the only pair in town. Cast off shoes are reaching epidemic proportions.

There’s another pair just around the corner on Llankelly Place. Just over to the left there, it’s a pair of suede heels.

A fancy night out gone wrong (or right?) – it could have been a Take It Home And See If It Works, but this has the feel of something much bigger.

It reminded me of a time years ago, when I lived on Barcom Avenue, and my flatmate and I found a dryer on the street. We were so excited, we dragged it up the stairs and into our unit. We plugged it in, only to find out that, no, it did not work. So we dragged it back out onto the street.

I wished someone had just attached a note to the appliance, like they did to this TV I spotted today on Kings Cross Road.

“OUT OF ORDER.”

It’s an instant relaxation kit: couch, ugg boots, a couple of pairs of around the house jeans, and a TV.

It’s been a while since we saw something worthy of taking it home and seeing if it works, but if you’re near the Palisades apartment complex, at the corner of Rosebank Street, we think you’ll agree.

This cane chair was near the on-ramp to the Eastern Distributor, on Bourke Street, Woolloomooloo.

And this one, on Premier Lane in Darlinghurst, had me particularly intrigued. What would I find inside: mouldy food, treasure, a body?

None of the above as it turned out. Just a musty box, painted aquamarine inside, and an old TV.

I’m still thinking, though. Only days before it might have boxed up old photos, early ’90s CDs and books, maybe for years.
